Background??

I worked again today.  6th grade.  They were so good.  Funny age.  They tell the corniest jokes.  It was a great day.

I hope that if anyone was involved in any way with the happenings in Boston, please know that there are many prayers out there for you.  Whether you were a runner or onlooker, or knew someone who was, we are all with you.

So, let me tell you what I've been trying to do.  I need a backdrop.  I am not an artist in the sense of being an artist.  You know the kind.  They pick up a pencil and in minutes, create something that could be hung in a museum.

That's not me.  However, I needed to have a backdrop for my faerie village.  I looked online and really don't want to spend the $$ on such a frivolous thing.  So I got out my hubby's paints and took his drawing pad paper.  I made a sky.  I used blues and pinks and purples.

I made the first group of trees.  I still need to work on the trees.  But this is a first try.

I would like to put in a lake at the bottom.  We'll see.  If I don't work tomorrow, maybe I'll finish it.  Maybe.

Usually, I get pix and put them up on the screen.  Then I use the paints and try to recreate the colors and shapes.  I think it will work because it will be behind the houses and trees will be in the picture, too.

I also want to do more tulips.  I have more coffee filters and may do different colors.  Again, if I'm home tomorrow, it will be possible to devote some time to the flowers.

So, we'll see.

Until then...

Pat

  1. Hello Pat,
I think a hand drawn background adds a very special touch to a miniature. It really adds another facet of the artist and I think amkes it more personal. I use old calenders and buy them on sale after the new year, but it is hard to find just the right picture vs. making one yourself. Keep at it, i know it will be great.
    Big hug,
