Trellis for village finished

It snowed last night.  It was only on the grass, though.  It's the way I like it.  Tomorrow is supposed to be in the mid-40's.  I will probably have outside recess.  : (

Hubby and I went to breakfast this morning after church.  Then we stopped at Home Depot for a few things, including pink building foam for the village.  I saw it on a YouTube video from Storm the Castle.  It will be a mountain.  Trust me.

So hubby made the trellis supports for the shelves.  It took him only about an hour.  I was so happy that my village was beginning.

In order to put the shelves in their proper spot, I used the schematic again.  I took the pieces of paper that were sized to the specific buildings and placed them where I thought they should go.  I wanted the top to be higher because of all the flying lessons going on.  The bottom opening will be the library and the gazebo and I think the firehouse.  See the electrical outlet?  That will be for any lighting.  I am looking for a suitable background to go over the mirror.

In the center will be the little houses and other little shops.  There will be room for landscaping, too.

The shelves are 3 pieces of wood and on these pieces I will place flooring tiles, since we have a few left from a floor tile project I did several years ago.  We kept the extras in case we had to replace any.  They will be perfect for the grass and all the other things I have planned.

Since I work tomorrow, I probably will not be doing a lot on the village.  I did not get to the fencing on Rowena's house because I was helping hubby.  I hold the wood steady while he hammers and curses.  Hey, someone has to do it!

And then, I had an epiphany as I looked up past the structure.  I have an opening section above the shelves.  At this time, there are decorations and knick-knacks.  They will probably be gone, too, to make room for other things.   I think I will just do it slowly, though, so no one notices.  LOL

It's late and I'm ready to hit the sack.  Tomorrow and kindergarten come very quickly.  And Mondays are always crazy.

Talk to you tomorrow.

Until then...

Pat
