Printies and Clay

Sounds like a song, doesn't it?  Anyway, I did some sewing this morning, deciding to opt out of the sewing challenge.  Too much to do with everything else.  Worked on a doll outfit for the morning and part of the afternoon.  Have a few outfits that need buttons and the like.

Received a comment from a reader asking if I only work in 1:12 scale.  The answer is no, I don't.  I work in all scales, although I tried 1:144 and almost needed new eyes. : ]

A few years ago, I bought a quarter-scale village kit with 6 buildings from Greenleaf.  I put them together as suggested.  Then several years ago I learned about kit bashing, where one takes a kit (any kind of kit) and does his or her own thing.  So I ordered the second set of 6 buildings last month and will be working on them.  However, I am going to take the first group out of storage and bash them. I want to add the 2nd floor, if needed and "brick" the exteriors.  Stay tuned because I'm going to do the process right here!

I mentioned that today I was going to work on printies.  I have pix of them before they are folded and after they are finished.  There is a privacy screen, a bathroom scale, 3 gift boxes (getting ready for Christmas), a gift bag and a towel rack for Rowena's second bathroom.  There are also 2 rugs but they are as is.  The 2nd bath is back far enough where you will see the items but not know they are cardstock.  I know I can count on all of you not to tell!  I'll show the pix of the house soon.  If you've never worked with printies, try it.

Then I got bored and decided to work on the hand chair that my granddaughter, Kate, wanted for her boutique roombox. I have a photo of the armature made from aluminum foil.  Then I covered it with pink Sculpey.  Came out cute.  I want to start making dragons and I did learn a lesson here.  I will make a large thin sheet of clay for the back and front instead of adding pieces.  Too difficult to smooth out. I'm not thrilled with it but Kate will love it.  I have to make the legs yet.

I actually have to go to work tomorrow.  Once I'm there, I'm fine.  But being off during the summer really spoils a person!  When I get home from work tomorrow, I plan on doing another craft.  So don't forget to come back....

  1. I love printies too Pat, and always send off my birthday swaps in the gift bags like you have printed off. My Christmas swaps also go in bags and boxes from the same site - they look so much nicer that way, I think. I love your rug, towel and privacy screen - must go looking again for something like those. Have you tried printing on fabric or fuzzy paper?
